A social story is a simple, illustrated narrative that helps audiences understand what to expect in a new situation, guiding them through experiences with clear, reassuring instructions
Where Are We Going?
We're going to have a special time online, connecting with our grandparents for the Best. Party. Ever. This is a fun show designed just for grandparents and their little loved ones, even if they live far apart.
What Will We Do?
We will join a live show on Zoom, hosted by the funny Matt Kelly. The show will last for 60 minutes, and it will be full of silly songs, games, and sock puppets. Matt Kelly will be celebrating his birthday, and he’ll need our help to make it the best party ever.

What Will Happen?
Once we join the Zoom call, we’ll see other children and their grandparents on the screen. Matt Kelly will guide us through the party, which is set at his birthday. We’ll be waiting for his grandma to arrive, but she won’t come until we help Matt crack a secret code.
What Can We See and Do?
Zoom Screen: You’ll see your grandparents, Matt, and other families on the Zoom screen.
Silly Games: Matt will lead you in some silly games that will make you laugh.
Sock Puppets: There will be some sock puppets joining the fun! You will be go and asked to find a sock!
Finding Blue Things: At one point, Matt will ask you to find some blue things around your house and bring them back to show on the screen
At some points in the show, you’ll be able to talk just with your grandparents. You will have a chance to chat to them and then some time working out how to crack a code together!
How Will It Feel?
The show will be funny and a bit silly. It’s okay if you feel excited or even a little shy at first. There will be plenty of time to laugh and play with your grandparents. Matt Kelly is very good at making everyone feel included and happy.
What Can We Expect Afterwards?
After the show, you can talk to your grandparents about what you enjoyed the most. Maybe you’ll want to try some of the games or activities again another time. You might even want to plan your own family party, just like the one in the show.
More Fun Awaits!
After the party, the fun doesn’t have to stop! You can keep playing some of the games you learned or even make your own sock puppet show to share with your grandparents later. "Best. Party. Ever." is all about making special memories, even when you’re apart.
What to expect for Grandparents from the Best. Party. Ever!
Best. Party. Ever. is a live zoom show, hosted by the hilarious Matt Kelly for 60 minutes of facilitated online fun!
When you purchase your ticket, you will be asked to provide contact details for both the Grandparent, and the Parent / Carer of the Grandchild who will be participating.
In the week leading up to the show, both parties will be sent a Zoom link, and further instructions on how to prepare for this intergenerational shindig!
Best. Party. Ever. is a Threshold experience that has been created by Andy Callaghan, Tahli Corin, Matt Kelly, Sarah Lockwood and UB Lee.
